High in the folds of the Himachal hills, this English-inspired hillside stay opens onto a horizon of snow-touched peaks, terraced village landscapes and pine forest that changes colour with the hour. Step onto the private balcony with a cup of tea and the valley does the rest: Kali Ka Tibba on one side, the Sirmaur and Dharo Ki Dhar valleys unfolding below, and the kind of quiet that only mountain air carries.
Inside, the room is warm and unhurried, with British-style detailing, soft lighting and a heater for cold evenings. It is a space built for slow afternoons, whether that means a book by the window, a film on the television or simply the cool breeze coming off the ridge. Evenings turn cosy quickly at this altitude, the kind that end with the heater on and the curtains drawn against the mountain chill.
Beyond the room, the property opens into generous shared spaces. Rack up a game on the pool table in the hall, gather around the barbecue as the light drops, or head up to the shared rooftop bar as the ridgeline turns amber. The lawn is wide and green, made for sunbathing, impromptu games and children running free, while the shaded gazebo is the spot for long conversations over coffee. After dark, a bonfire under a sky thick with stars.
Meals are looked after by the in-house kitchen and served throughout the day in the restaurant. The balcony is yours alone; the hall, restaurant, rooftop bar, garden, gazebo and lawn are shared with other guests staying at the property.
This stay is suited to couples after a romantic escape, a small family on a quiet holiday, or friends heading into the hills for the weekend. It works equally well for a restorative solo break or a corporate offsite that needs fresh air more than a boardroom.
When exploring the area, Riva Waterfall sits a short drive away, along with Shilli Wildlife Sanctuary, the serene Mohan Shakti Temple, Maa Shoolini Temple, and the striking Jatoli Temple, one of the tallest shrines in the region.
